Rooms Coffee
Social Media Advertisement Series
Rooms Coffee is a Toronto-based chain known for its thoughtful attention to customer experience. Each location is designed with a distinct purpose and aesthetic, allowing every store to stand out in its own way. The brand communicates exclusively through Instagram, using visuals to reflect its unique identity.
I created three social media posts for three different Rooms Coffee locations: 450 Dufferin (Bather), The Brick Room, and 915 Dupont Street. Each post highlights the individuality of the space while staying true to the brand’s overall tone and visual language.
The Brick Room
The Brick Room while only selling cafe related products, has a very established mood and design. Centered around this burnt orange colour and brick texture, along with location specific character and specific photography style. While the videos and images displayed on their social media feel very serious and professional, their character creates a friendly juxtaposition that creates a unique identity for this location. The Brick Room storyboard was developed with the intention of focusing on a playful character animation while incorporating the interior design of the location.
Bather
The 450 Dufferin location Is named after a clothing brand called Bather. This makes this location both a clothing store as well as a coffee shop. Bather has the most distinct design from the rest of the locations because of brighter and airy aesthetic. The Bather storyboard was design to highlight their merchandise, using a motion poster as a way to view the clothing in a more dynamic way without pulling attention with a complete animation.
915 Dupont
The 915 DuPont is event focused with an emphasis on live music, DJs and dancing. The aesthetic of the location has a very cozy, busy and encapsulating feeling, prompting a more energetic and crowded animation compared to the other locations. The primary goal was to create a narrative of living in the mundane (walking down the street) and entering this inconspicuous and lively “other world”. The storyboard includes many integral, location based design elements such as the plants, the fish decoration, vinyls and of course, the coffee.
